### **About the Music Thread**

Team Music is a very diverse group of artists at FAP, participating in workshops from songwriting to vocal performance to orchestration. We start with a Masterclass with Reisdent Artist Sam Willmott, followed by an Info Session about curricular and extra-curricular involvement opportunities, and a Keynote speaker. Whether you consider yourself a composer, lyricist, instrumentalist, vocalist, etc., or you are simply just generally interested in Music as an art-form, you will learn tremendously from the diverse talents of your Resident Artists and fellow FAPpers!

### **Resident Artist: Sam Willmott**

Sam Willmott is a NYC-based composer, lyricist and librettist whose projects include the bhangra musical *Bhangin' It* (with playwrights Rehana Lew Mirza and Mike Lew, premiering at the La Jolla Playhouse and McCarter Theatre in 2021), *Yo, Vikings!* and the marionette show *Wake Up, Daisy!* (both with Marcus Stevens), the Emmy-nominated HBO documentary *Song of Parkland*, *Standardized Testing - The Musical!!!!*, the mini-musical *Scarlet Takes a Tumble,* and additional lyrics for the stage adaptation of Jule Styne and Bob Merrill's *Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol*. Sam is the recipient of the Richard Rodgers Award, the Kleban Prize for Most Promising Lyricist, a Jonathan Larson Grant, the Fred Ebb Award, and the ASCAP Foundation's Cole Porter and Harold Adamson Awards. He is also a proud educator who has taught at Harvard University, in Pace University's BFA Musical Theater program, and with Lincoln Center's Songwriting in Schools Program.
