About the Film Thread

The film thread for FAP provides participants the opportunity to study the art of writing, filming, and editing short films, through process classes and hands on experience.  Resident Artist for Film, Glenn Kiser ’91, starts off the process with a 90 minute Masterclass for ALL FAPpers to analyze film clips and discuss the creative process and how to compose meaningful scenes for film.  Then FAPpers can elect to participate in other workshops that might include Film Directing, Film Editing, Nonfiction Filmmaking, or other classes as available.  Students can also participate in an Info Session about curricular and extracurricular involvement opportunities, as well as attend a Keynote dialogue with an industry professional.

Resident Artist: Glenn Kiser

Glenn is the Director of the Dolby Institute, the outreach initiative of Dolby Laboratories to educate and inspire the next generation of content creators. After acting in some 20 productions (including the Hasty Pudding) and making short films through the AFVS department, Glenn clutched his Harvard Psych degree and moved to Los Angeles to make it in the movies. He started off working in editing on low budget independent films, then he moved to San Francisco where he ran George Lucas' company Skywalker Sound, where he oversaw sound work on massive projects such as the HARRY POTTER series, the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films, the IRON MANs, TRON: LEGACY and AVATAR. Glenn also occasionally directs short films, his most recent being “Sabbatical,” which played in over 40 film festivals around the world and is available on YouTube.
